MDO2 system kit
Item number: 00EDS-1056-00
Before Lancair test-pilot Mike DeHate showed how our EDS units could be installed into the overhead console of his Lancair IV, builders of both Lancair IV and ES hated to think of where or how they could even begin to install a typically available, large, heavy and wasteful constant-flow oxygen system into their new high-flying aircaft.
With long cross country trips, the EDS units for the front seats and MH3 or MH4 flowmeters for the occasional rear-seat passengers, along with the light-weight Carbon fiber oxygen cylinder (48 cu.ft.), proved to be a perfect fit for endurance, small size and weight & balance objectives for the Lancair IV. With the exception of the easily removable oxygen cylinder with valve and gauge for easy refilling, (usually mounted under one of the front seats just forward of the spar), the entire system can fit into the center overhead console just behind the heads of the two front seats in the Lancair IV & ES aircaft.
Once other builders saw the system Mike DeHate had installed, there was no question about it. The so-called MDO2 system had become an instant sucess.
